After enjoying a refreshing swim at Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, I visited a local restaurant called Zab Zab. Located in a narrow alley across from Kanchanaburi Railway Station, the restaurant gained popularity after being introduced by Nichkhun as a must-visit local favorite.
From Erawan National Park, I returned to the city by bus. By informing the driver that I wanted to get off near Kanchanaburi Station, I was kindly notified when we arrived nearby. While I can't say if every driver is like this, mine was particularly friendly and helpful.
Because Zab Zab has no English signs or noticeable storefront, it was easy to mistake it for a regular house. I managed to find it only by carefully checking the map.
Open: 11:30 AM – 10:00 PM Closed: Every Thursday
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. On a pleasant day, the outdoor tables would be a great choice. Inside, air conditioning is available, but a fee of 20 baht per table is charged. The interior space is larger than it looks, and although the A/C isn’t particularly strong, it becomes comfortable after a short while.

True to its reputation as a locals’ favorite, the restaurant serves a wide variety of Thai dishes at very reasonable prices.
Zab Zab is a budget-friendly Thai restaurant with a rich and diverse menu. It might be easy to overlook due to its lack of signage, but using a map will help you locate it without much trouble. The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxed, and the pricing unbeatable. With many locals dining there, it’s clearly a beloved spot. I would highly recommend Zab Zab for anyone visiting Kanchanaburi and looking for an authentic, satisfying Thai meal.
During my trip to Bangkok, Thailand, I had one particular craving: soft shell crab . After some research, I found a place called Kungthong Seafood , a well-known seafood restaurant that started with a famous main branch and has since expanded to several chain locations , including inside shopping malls. I visited the branch located inside Siam Discovery , one of Bangkok's central shopping malls. Be warned — the mall layout is a bit complex, so follow the signs carefully when navigating. I had a little trouble finding the food court area at first. The restaurant is located within the food court , and the setting is very much in line with a typical mall food court — clean, simple, and casual. It’s a convenient spot for a quick but satisfying meal. Though I can’t read Thai, the photo-based menu made ordering easy. As with many Thai eateries, the menu was impressively diverse. It was hard to choose just a few! Here’s what I ended up trying: Maphrang Juice A tropical Southeast ...
One of the things I had planned during my recent trip to Kanchanaburi, Thailand was a visit to the Kanchanaburi Safari . At this safari, you can ride a safari vehicle and get up close to a variety of animals. It’s said to offer a nature-friendly environment along with several animal shows. Since the place usually closes after 5 PM, I had brunch and left early in the day. The ticket booth apparently closes a little after 4 PM, so I recommend going early to enjoy the visit without stress. PS. If you take a taxi, you’ll usually need to negotiate the round-trip fare with the driver. In my case, the driver offered a deal first, and after some bargaining, I managed to get a round trip for about 750 baht . First, I bought the admission ticket at the entrance and also bought some animal feed. Adult ticket: 550 baht Child ticket: 350 baht Animal feed (2 bowls of carrots): 100 baht You get two baskets of carrots for 100 baht. Besides the basic admission ticket, you can a...
This is a travel report from my recent trip to Kanchanaburi, where I visited Erawan National Park , the main purpose of my visit. To get to the park by public transportation, you need to take a bus from the Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal . The journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes . Note: The Kanchanaburi Train Station and the Bus Terminal are located in completely different directions, so make sure you head to the right place. I departed in the morning, and the roads were relatively quiet. Since the terminal is located in the city center, it was easier to find than expected. There are several buses heading to different destinations, but the one going to Erawan was easy to identify — it was clearly marked and very obvious that it was heading to the national park. P.S. : Perhaps due to the high number of foreign tourists visiting Erawan, the bus is parked right in front of the Tourist Police Office . When I looked a bit confused, a staff member came out to assist me and ...
